“Remember to celebrate the milestones as you prepare for the road ahead.” – Nelson Mandela

It’s always overwhelming to witness a memorable family occasion and I am thrilled to be able to capture these candid and precious memories. One of the best part on these special occasions are the people who we actually share it with. It’s fun to reconnect with the whole family for an exciting and important milestone such as this Bar Mitzvah which I was invited to document it in Maryland.

The Bat Mitzvah is a time when your child has come of age, and it’s important to mark this occasion.  You can help your child understand what it means to mark their Bar or Bat Mitzvah by taking some time together to reflect on the process of becoming an adult in the Jewish community.  Bat/Bar mitzvahs are one of my favorite things to do during this time of year because they allow me to connect with children on an intimate level without having to travel too far away from home.

The beauty of celebrations is the thrill as you look forward to reconnecting with the rest of the family and friends. A one-day event but you spent hours, days and even months for the preparation — looking for the perfect outfit and brainstorming the decorations and dishes which you know your visitors would enjoy. You’ll also be able to connect on a deeper level as well, because when we spend time together, we’re able to talk about things that aren’t necessarily related to our immediate day-to-day lives but are important nonetheless. And if we’re all having fun together, then who knows what kind of new memories will be made! At the end of the day, it’s the laughter that fills the air and the smile on everyone’s faces which makes it perfect one.

As you look back when you grow older, you will realize how time flies fast and these priceless memories are all you’ve got. it’s even better when you get to see those relationships grow over time.  These are opportunities for us to connect with our families and enjoy a sense of joyous celebration together. It’s about the feelings, memories, and connections that will come from celebrating together as a family.
