The Wiccan Wedding Experience

Like so many weddings before, I fully expected to photograph the traditional white and lace. I love being part of every wedding, and I feel honored to be included in such a joyous personal occasion. But every once in a while, something different comes along and I have to share.

Diana had contacted me in Feb 2020 after seeing my display at a bridal show. She explained that she is looking for something unique and to find someone that could deliver her vision. I was more than willing to take on any challenge thrown my way, and this was no exception.

I had no idea or experience with this type of wedding. The big day was set for November at Piedmont Country Club in Haymarket, Va. We couldn’t have asked for such a perfect day, considering it was a November day. Blue skies, brisk air blowing just enough to make you feel calm. The Wiccan practices diverse beliefs, so no two wedding ceremonies will be alike.

Many of the vows and wedding reading will be more personalized from couple to couple. The handfasting took place where the couple’s hands are symbolically tied together with a cord or rope to symbolize their union. A Wiccan wedding is a beautiful option for its practitioners. Most followers choose to include the ceremony’s handfasting ritual, along with vows and perhaps wedding readings. If you want the marriage to be legal, make sure you find someone to perform the ceremony that is recognized by your state. No matter what kind of Wiccan wedding you have, the ceremony is sure to be meaningful as long as you honor your spouse and stay true to your beliefs.
